            The components of a research process are described in more detail below. The process will not always be linear, and these components are meant as a general guide to the process.
Initiating and Planning
• Define the research question
o develop several specific and concise research questions
o select an appropriate research question for investigation
o identify prior knowledge and experience related to the research question o identify key words
o develop a work plan
o consider resources available
• Identify and select resources
o identify various resources to consult
o consult the selected resources, by using various research tools and/or by visiting a library,
museum, or other facility
o consider bias in the resources
o select relevant and appropriate resources
