The Aboriginal population is much younger than the non-Aboriginal popu- lation. In Ontario, the Aboriginal population (under age 25) makes up 46% of the total Aboriginal population. It is expected that this trend will contin- ue, as the birth rate among the Aboriginal population is approximately
1.5 times higher than the Canadian average. This will result in an increas- ing number of Aboriginal students moving through the school system.
