Tutorial Support
English language learners who are enrolled in a full program of mainstream courses may receive tutorial support from an ESL and ELD resource teacher, subject teachers, and peer tutors. This type of support is suitable for English language learners at all lev- els of English language proficiency.
Note: English language learners should “graduate” from ESL or ELD programs when they have attained the level of proficiency required to learn effectively in English. Although a student may leave formal ESL or ELD classes and become completely inte- grated into the mainstream program within two or three years, the student’s progress should continue to be monitored until he or she has attained a level of proficiency in English similar to that of English-speaking peers.
